Vivi at the Leader Office helps with the application form for DiscoverEU.
The application period is open from October 1-15, 2026, for everyone born in 2008.
Every year, two application rounds are held, one in spring and one in autumn.
The next application round will be October 1–15, 2026..
Then you, who were born between January 1 and December 31, 2008, can apply. If you win, the preliminary travel period is March 1, 2027–May 31, 2028.
Starting in 2027, the United Kingdom will be part of the Erasmus program – and DiscoverEU.
Are you 18 years old and living in an EU country or a country participating in Erasmus+? Get ready to explore Europe!
What is DiscoverEU?
DiscoverEU is an initiative within the Erasmus+ program that gives you the opportunity to travel around and discover Europe's diversity, learn about its cultural heritage and history, and meet new friends from across the continent.
If you are selected, you will receive a travel card for trains.
You will also receive a DiscoverEU discount card (European youth card) which gives you discounts on, among other things, museums, courses, sports activities, public transport, accommodation, and food.
How does it work?
To be able to compete for a travel card, you must
- be at least 18 years old on the first possible travel day
- fill in the number of your ID card, passport, or residence permit card in the online application
- be a citizen or resident of
- an EU country, including the outermost regions, or
- a non-European country or territory associated with the EU, or
- a country associated with the Erasmus+ program, namely Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, or Turkey
- accept the declaration of honor included in the application.

Additionally, you must take a quiz (if you are not applying as a group member).

Can I travel with friends?
Of course! You can travel alone or with friends. You can have a maximum of four friends in your group, provided they meet the above conditions. They should use your application code when filling out the application. Read the answers to questions B.5–B.11 in our frequently asked questions if you want to know more.
You can also coordinate your travel plans with other DiscoverEU travelers. If you use Facebook, you can join the Facebook group DiscoverEU*. Join the group now to connect with other participants.
If you are selected, you will receive help preparing your trip and making contacts. The national program offices organize, for example, meetings before the trip and meet with other travelers.
* Your personal data will then be processed according to specific conditions for the protection of personal data and Facebook's privacy policy, and Facebook is a separate data controller.
Share your experiences
All participants automatically become ambassadors for DiscoverEU. We therefore ask you to share your experiences on social media. Tag the posts with #DiscoverEU. You can also give a presentation at your school or in your hometown.
