About Leader Bergslagen
We have a budget of about 40 million to distribute over the years 2023-2027! Since 2007, we have been working with rural development through the Leader method. During the period 2007-2015, we granted support to over 400 projects and sub-projects. Development processes started throughout the area, and in more than 66% of the completed projects, the processes continued long after the project period ended. Our association was dormant for a period, but in 2023 we received new EU funds to realize projects through the Leader method.

Leader Bergslagen is a collaboration between 10 municipalities
- Ludvika and Smedjebacken in southern Dalarna.
- Norberg, Fagersta, Skinnskatteberg, and Surahammar in northern Västmanland.
- Hällefors, Ljusnarsberg, Nora, Lindesberg (except Fellingsbro) in northern Örebro County.
The population density in the 8000 square kilometer area is 14 inhabitants/km2. The area is characterized by long distances and a lot of forest. A total of about 114,000 inhabitants live here.

In the Leader method, local anchoring, initiative, and engagement are at the center. The idea is that the development of your place is carried out most effectively by you who live and work there. You are the ones who know what needs and challenges need to be met.
