The name ”Räddaren i nöden” playfully aims to develop outdoor toilets and toilets around Bergslagen, as this was the origin of the umbrella project. However, in communication with associations, a broader need has emerged to work with associations from a community preparedness perspective. This Leadercheck can satisfy the existing demand. It is therefore not only toilet solutions that are intended – it can also involve courses and workshops that strengthen preparedness.
The project is a good way to increase community preparedness through concrete activities. The efforts strengthen small places in the countryside and increase accessibility to them.
The goal of the new Leadercheck is to implement at least eight sub-projects that deal with community preparedness. The purpose is to improve the living conditions for the people in Bergslagen. This time with a preparedness focus.
The investment must fit within the framework.
It is important to note that the Leadercheck cannot be used as co-financing for larger investments. The investment in a Leadercheck must not exceed 24,000 SEK excluding VAT including shipping and installation. (30,000 SEK including VAT on 25%). However, one can combine the ”small long-lasting purchase” of e.g. a small generator, a three-phase connection, a defibrillator, surface upgrades with ”short-lived purchases” such as courses and workshops.
In Leader projects, there is a strong focus on doing things together. ”Leader is a method - not an ATM,” as we usually say.

First out was the check Rescue Dog in Kopparberg!
The money will be used to develop the offerings of the working dog club with a course in SAR (Search and Rescue). The purpose is to create community benefit in Kopparberg and surrounding areas.
This is a new activity that has not existed in the Leader area before. There is interest in training and competing in SAR, a vital knowledge-enhancing effort for both dogs and dog owners.
Plan ahead
The office will be fully occupied in 2026 with the implementation of ongoing projects and final reporting. Limited time is available to handle new ideas. Therefore, please plan ahead when contacting the office.

Worth knowing about how to report a check
Agreement
Before purchases in the project, an agreement must be established between LAG (Leader Bergslagen) and the operator (authorized signatory). This is done via BankID in Formify. The authorized signatory receives a link and can download the agreement after signing.
Implement the project
Implement the project/activity, make the purchases, and itemize the costs.
The information requirement
ALL communication about projects/activities co-financed by the EU must include the correct logo. No EU flag = no support. The EU flag must not be smaller than the other logos if they are on the same poster. The same rules apply to social media. Please let us see the poster/ad before you publish it.

Keep in mind that a project that receives 30 000 SEK in support requires about 27 hours of voluntary work. Make a summary of the voluntary hours and save it.
Email the secretariat:
- Copies of invoices and receipts.
- Proof of payment where both the sender and recipient of the money are indicated.
- Write a summary of the entire project's expenses and any income. Income reduces the support, good to know. The support should be a zero-sum game, i.e., cover the expenses. Income is counted as private co-financing.
- Photo documentation of the project.
We are happy to tell about the project on our website and our social media if you share photos that we can publish. We will also have a follow-up conversation to review the outcome of the project's results. Approved checks must be finally accounted for and reported in accordance with the timeframe specified in the agreement for support to be paid out.
