Laying the foundation for new GG

The purpose of the project is to develop cultural activities with a gallery and workshop for graphic arts, printing and bookbinding in Bergslagen.

The goal of the project is to lay the foundation for the new Grafikverkstaden Godsmagasinet in Uttersberg at Flohammar 1:14, Skinnskatteberg.

The project consists of project management, ground and foundation laying including rough planning of new GG. The activities also include tree felling, vegetation clearance, individual sewer laying, other excavation and drainage work, slab casting and other necessary
rough planning of the land.

About the purpose

”"Long-term industrial closures have given Bergslagen an identity as a depopulated area. Creating the conditions for an active cultural life, as well as its continued development, is an effective way to reverse that trend and make the area more attractive. Not only to attract tourists and visitors, but also to entice more people to move here.".

It is a development we see clearly in Uttersberg. There are now 11 artists living here full or part time. All of them have moved in in the last fifteen years, i.e. since the Grafikverkstaden was started. We want to see a continuation of that development!

KKB (Cultural and Creative Industries) is a driving force for social development, not least in rural areas, this has received a lot of attention in recent years. A vibrant cultural life is a positive identity-creating factor, something that is extremely important for the development of Bergslagen. GG is an important player in this context, with its cultural center that will now include both a workshop and a gallery. The importance of an active art life that protects freedom of expression, debate and an open society cannot be emphasized enough. This is particularly true on the scale of the local community.”"”
