About the project
The LAG board has chosen to prioritize the umbrella project THE SAVIOR IN NEED with approval as it will lead to goal fulfillment according to the local development strategy. The project is a good way to increase community preparedness through concrete activities. The efforts strengthen small places in the countryside and increase accessibility to them.
The name ”The Savior in Need” playfully refers to developing outdoor toilets and restrooms around Bergslagen, as this was the origin of the umbrella project. However, in communication with the association community, a broader need has emerged to work with associations from the perspective of community preparedness. This umbrella project can meet the demand for increased community preparedness in rural areas. Thus, it is not only toilet solutions that are intended in this umbrella project; it can also involve courses and workshops that strengthen preparedness.
The LAG board follows the recommendations that the Rural Pact in the EU has put forward to simplify the administrative process for support applicants where the activities are small and short-term. THE SAVIOR IN NEED is granted support as so-called umbrella projects are a good way to increase the accessibility of Leader support.
The project is considered to be of public benefit as the aim of the project is to stimulate local development ideas among actors in Bergslagen. This benefits rural residents.
