Create space for nature

Södra Hyttan wants to protect Bergslagen's biological cultural heritage by allowing wild and culturally protected plants to move into the old industrial environment. Here, a visitor garden is being created with room for people and nature.

About the project

The purpose of Create space for nature is to develop the outdoor environments in Södra Hyttan, Hällefors.

The goal of the project is to create a conservatory and garden.

The project consists of building a roof above the stage, constructing paths, planting plants, and carpentry for a barbecue area, tool shed, and outdoor reception.

The result after two years of project

By allowing wild and culturally protected plants to move into the old industrial environment in Södra Hyttan, we have protected Bergslagen's biological cultural heritage. The former industrial landscape has been transformed into an oasis for biodiversity where we showcase and preserve plants that have shaped and shaped the lives of the people in the area.

In addition to collecting and planting plants, we built three outdoor spaces where outside became inside and inside became outside. These now serve as three platforms to invite, inspire and educate.
