Ghost walks at historical sites in Bergslagen
Ghost walks offer a unique opportunity for associations to reach and engage young people in association life, while allowing the young people to explore and learn about local history.
The project creates meetings between young and old, where the older generation passes on stories that otherwise risk falling into oblivion.
About the project
The purpose of the project is to strengthen intergenerational cultural and leisure life in rural areas by offering activities that are in demand by young people.
The goal of the project is to carry out 80 ghost walks at historical sites in Bergslagen.
The activities in the project are project planning, implementation of ghost walks, dissemination of ghost walks, for example through films.
Background
To rejuvenate the association life and attract more young members, Studieöfrbundet Vuxenskolan wants to introduce an innovative concept. Many associations in rural areas have expressed a need to reach young people and create activities that arouse their interest. Young people, in turn, have shown great commitment to the supernatural.
Ghost walks offer a unique opportunity for associations to reach and engage young people in their association life, while allowing them to explore and learn about local history. The project creates encounters between young and older people, where the older generation passes on stories that otherwise risk falling into oblivion.
Project manager Jennifer says:
We highlight exciting stories from Bergslagen's history, create a sense of togetherness and strengthen the individual's ties to the local community. Meetings that build bridges between cultures and generations.
For newcomers, especially those without close family or grandparents in the area, an opportunity is created to learn about the history and culture of the area.
The historical sites used in the walks form the basis for the project's local anchoring. By allowing participants to discover the history of Bergslagen through interactive stories, understanding and pride in the cultural heritage of the place is strengthened. In this way, young people become not just passive spectators but active participants in preserving and spreading the history of the region.
The project aims to offer guided tours during all seasons, which will complement the summer's historical tours and make the association more active all year round.
