Social food in public kitchens
The project makes the cultivation operations at the Rikkenstorp farm accessible to preschools for educational purposes to increase knowledge and develop learning about food. The children, parents and staff are allowed to be involved in the entire cultivation process, and create a relationship with it.
About the project
The purpose of the project is to increase knowledge among preschool children and the general public about the origin and handling of vegetables, in order to ultimately create a better supply of food all year round in Bergslagen.
The goal of the project is to have a year-round facility for vegetable washing and storage that enables study visits by preschool children.
The activities in the project are project management, installation of refrigerated containers and conducting Open House events.

About the project
The LAG board has chosen to prioritize the project Relationship food in public kitchens with approval as it can lead in a good way to promoting self-sufficiency in food in Bergslagen.
Increasing interest in locally produced products among the people of Bergslagen protects nature by reducing transportation costs and emissions, and makes Bergslagen more resilient in the event of a crisis.
The children in the project will have the opportunity to follow their ingredients all year round, on site at the farms and via the plate. By creating a relationship with things, they gain greater value. This project is about creating a relationship with the food we eat, all year round.
The project is considered to be of public benefit as it benefits rural residents by giving them the opportunity to play an active role in the production of food all year round. Above all, it benefits children, their families and preschool staff who get to participate in a public education project about the origins of food.
