Status of decided project funds Leader Bergslagen
- For the entire program period 2023-2027, the total project budget is 41 545 105 kr.
- The board has said YES to applications corresponding to 99%.
- Now it is Leader checks that apply. That is, small support for more, no more large projects.
- There is a lot of money left for checks, welcome with your idea!
Two types of application procedures
- Leader check, applied for via web form after ”Test-idea-meeting” with the secretariat – the committee decides. Budget approx. 20,000 kr. The budget can be larger if needed, but no investments over 24,000 kr excluding VAT may be included in the check.
- Leader project, applied for with a power of attorney via e-service – the board decides. The average budget has been 463,000 kr. Now there is application deadline for these projects
- Over 600 project ideas have been tested.
- The result is 70 Leader projects and over 240 Leader checks.
This is how Leader Bergslagen is financed in the Strategic plan 2023-2027
The member municipalities contribute 33%. This money is matched with EU funds 50% and the Swedish state 17%. One municipal crown can be matched through Leader projects up to three crowns.
Work is currently underway to secure funding for the next program period, the years 2028-2034.

The Bergslagen project stands out among the crowd
When the national association Local Development Sweden, LUS, appointed the Best Leader Project of the Year and the Best Leader Project of the Year for youth in 2025 both (!) awards went to Leader Bergslagen. One was the Go-Kart initiative for the disabled. The other was the hip-hop studio in Lindesberg.
This year (2026) the award has not yet been given out but once again Bergslagen is in the final! The musical Annie with the newly formed association Unga Nora theater company is competing for the title of Best Leader Project for youth.
The municipal network
In each municipality, there are two officials that has ”Leader on its table.” They have a bit of extra good insight into what Leader, Leader projects, and the Leader method are.
The board
All sectors, non-profit, private, and public, are represented in board of directors. All three counties and sectors are represented in the nomination committee.
The Chancellery
Leader Bergslagen has a small secretariat with two employees. One operations manager and one administrator.
